Managing Director, San Francisco
Marianne Besch doesn't take no for an answer. When met with the "impossible," she simply smiles and rolls up her sleeves.
Marianne has a gift for coming up with big organizing ideas that work across all disciplines, from broadcast and digital to content, social, and experiential. But her passion for advertising goes far beyond creative. Marianne gets involved in strategy development early on and is deeply invested in building brands, meeting business needs, and creating close client relationships. Her tenacity and talent have led to an extraordinary lineup of new business wins for mcgarrybowen, including Staples, P&G, United Airlines, Intel, and, most recently, the Clorox specialty brands, which include Kingsford, Brita, Fresh Step, and Hidden Valley Ranch.
After 20+ years of advertising in New York City, Marianne took her ad adventures west, opening mcgarrybowen SF to run the global Intel business. The office has since won new business of its own and more than doubled in size.
Prior to mcgarrybowen, Marianne held senior positions at BBDO and Leo Burnett and has worked at Deutsch, TBWA, and K&B. She launched her career at Chiat Day, after attending Art Center College of Design. Over that period, Marianne collected awards including Cannes Lions, Addy's, Andy's, CA, and Clios for Hallmark, FedEx, and Absolut Vodka, to name a few.
