Jamie Shuttleworth
Chief Strategy Officer, Chicago
As Chief Strategy Officer of mcgarrybowen's Chicago office, Jamie Shuttleworth applies a unique brand of strategic thinking to everything he touches. It’s called Calculated Boldness, and at its heart it’s a simple sentiment: Make sure you know precisely what you need to do—then do it boldly. He uses this combination of rigor and a heavy dose of wonder to help brands find their story in today’s over complicated world.

A driving force in shaping the future of integrated communication, Jamie has more than 15 years of experience and is driven by an intense focus on “What’s next?” He inspires, invents, and instigates ways forward for his clients. Inside the agency he takes leadership seriously, focusing on grooming future generations of innovative Change Agents.

After receiving his education and roughnecking in the Alaskan oilfields, Jamie began his career in advertising at Y&R in 1993, where he fell in love with the creative side of strategy. In 1997, he joined Foote, Cone & Belding as an account planner and worked numerous accounts, building skill and bravery that would come to serve him well. He quickly made his mark at the agency and assumed the duties of Director of Account Planning for the Chicago office in 2003.

With the 2006 merger of Draft and FCB, Jamie became the Chief Strategic Planning Officer for Draftfcb. Under his leadership Draftfcb created many fortune-changing ideas and won numerous Effies along the way.

His resume of blue-chip clients spans nearly every category and includes such iconic companies as Quaker, Gatorade, Coors, Volkswagen, John Deere, SC Johnson, Kraft, Boeing, Dow Chemical, Mattel, Yum!, State Farm, USPS, Kmart, Brown Forman, Ford Motor Company, Qwest, Diners Club, Sharpie, the Chicago Cubs, and the AdCouncil.

An inspired TEDzien and seeker of the like-minded, Jamie devotes his time outside the office to his wife, twins, and hockey (when it fits in).
